Job summary

Danbury Public Schools is seeking a Custodian for Westside Middle School Academy. The role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment after school hours, including classrooms, restrooms, gym, and common areas.

The position involves minor maintenance, seasonal grounds work, and responding to safety concerns. Candidates should have a high school diploma and be comfortable working independently with some supervision as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds to maintain a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
• Performs minor maintenance on custodial equipment and furniture for proper functioning.
• Prepares site for daily operations to ensure facilities are operational and hazard-free.
• Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies for daily use.
• Responds to safety and operational concerns and notifies appropriate personnel as needed.
• Assists in seasonal grounds work (e.g., snow removal).
• Performs work at heights up to 12 feet using ladders/scaffolding for cleaning and maintenance.
