Qualifications

• Some high school education and two years of custodial, facilities, or related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to perform basic maintenance and repair tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer and communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize offices, common areas, restrooms, meeting rooms, and other City facilities.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and machinery.
• Empty trash and recycling and ensure proper disposal.
• Restock restroom, breakroom, and facility supplies.
• Assist with facility setup and teardown for meetings, programs, and events.
• Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks as needed.
• Monitor building safety and security, including checking doors and reporting concerns.
• Identify and report maintenance issues or safety hazards.
• Assist with emergency situations such as snow removal or facility issues.
• Use basic computer systems for reporting and communication.
• Interact professionally and courteously with staff and the public.
