Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a PRN Environmental Services Worker I to support the Housekeeping department at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, Alaska. The role focuses on cleaning, floor care, waste management, and maintaining a safe, hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Evening shift is from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm with weekend/holiday rotation. Prior cleaning or environmental service experience is preferred; strong attention to detail and reliability are essential

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of cleaning or environmental service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and products.
• Understanding of infection control and safety standards.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment effectively and safely.
• Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift or move objects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas in accordance with infection control standards.
• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and dusts floors and surfaces with appropriate tools.
• Maintains floors and upholstery by appropriate procedures.
• Washes walls, windows, and other surfaces to keep spaces clean.
• Restocks supplies and reports shortages to ensure continuity.
• Handles trash and biohazardous materials safely per safety protocols.
• Operates and maintains cleaning equipment and reports malfunctions.
• Assists with minor repairs and notifies larger facility issues.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
