Job summary

Qualifications

• Technical School completion of a state-approved EMT training program required
• Technical School EMT Advanced course preferred
• Experience working in a hospital-based emergency department, ambulance service, or critical care transport unit preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides basic emergency medical care in accordance with state scope of practice and policies.
• Assists with patient assessment, vital signs, and delivery of care under supervision of a Paramedic or clinical leader.
• Administers first aid treatments including CPR, wound care, bleeding control, immobilization, and breathing support as assigned.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely and in compliance with hospital policy and local laws.
• Conducts vehicle and equipment checks at shift start to ensure readiness and compliance.
• Maintains and restocks supplies and equipment necessary for patient care.
• Demonstrates proper PPE use and infection control procedures.
• Completes accurate EMR documentation per regulatory guidelines and policy.
• Escalates patient care or operational concerns through proper chain of command.
• Collaborates with paramedics, nurses, and physicians to ensure continuity of care on transfer.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards
