Job summary

Heartspring Inc in Wichita, KS seeks compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide care, support, and skill development for students with developmental, intellectual, and behavioral disabilities in a residential group home. This is a full-time second shift evening position.

Responsibilities include a safe, nurturing environment; developing communication and living skills; one-on-one and small-group support; and positive reinforcement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience supporting individuals with autism, intellectual/developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, or complex support needs.
• Pre-employment screening including fingerprinting, background checks, drug screen, physical exam, and reference verification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, clean, structured, and nurturing residential environment for children and young adults.
• Support students in developing communication, self-help, social, and independent living skills.
• Work one-on-one and in small groups to help students achieve individualized goals.
• Provide encouragement through positive reinforcement and meaningful interactions.
• Assist with daily routines, personal care, meals, and household activities.
• Maintain living areas and ensure a welcoming environment.
• Implement IEPs/SSPs and use trauma-informed, person-centered practices.
• Complete accurate documentation and communicate with families and team members.
• Escort students to community activities and participate in emergencies and crisis procedures.
• Welcome and mentor new Direct Support Professionals.
