The Arc Ocean County Chapter is hiring Full-Time Evening Direct Support Professionals to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Residential Services. No prior experience required; paid training provided.

Work hours are 3:00 PM–11:00 PM with weekend flexibility, and starting pay is $20.70/hour with up to $24.70/hour including overtime. You will gain hands-on experience and build a career with growth toward leadership roles.

Qualifications

The Arc of Ocean County is hiring Full-Time Evening Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout our Residential Services programs. We'll provide paid training and ongoing support to help you learn the role. You'll gain hands‑on experience assisting individuals with everyday life, supporting greater independence, and becoming part of a professional residential team. And for employees interested in growing beyond direct support, this position can be the beginning of a career path toward opportunities such as Assistant Manager and Group Home Manager.

Your Schedule & Compensation

Employment Type: Full-Time | 40 Hours Per Week

Shift: 3:00 PM-11:00 PM

Schedule Requirement: Flexibility to work two weekend days as part of your schedule

Starting Pay: $20.70 per hour

Earning Opportunity: Up to $24.70 per hour through shift differentials and overtime

Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly

Learn the Skills of Direct Support

As an Evening DSP, you'll develop experience across several important areas of residential services.

Provide Individualized Support

• Assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across residential group homes, supervised apartments, and supported living programs
• Provide support with personal care, meals, medication, household responsibilities, transportation, and other evening needs
• Encourage individuals to participate in routines and complete tasks as independently as possible
• Help individuals develop practical skills that strengthen confidence, personal responsibility, and independence

Help People Stay Active & Connected

• Support participation in recreational activities, shopping trips, community outings, and other social experiences
• Encourage individuals as they work toward goals identified within their individualized service plans
• Recognize accomplishments and provide encouragement as individuals develop new abilities
• Respect individual preferences and promote opportunities for choice and self‑direction

Create a Home Built Around Respect

• Help maintain residential environments that are clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming
• Treat each individual with dignity while providing person‑centered support
• Encourage healthy routines and contribute to an environment that promotes inclusion, growth, and respect
• Help create consistency so individuals can feel comfortable and supported in their homes

Become a Dependable Member of the Team

• Work alongside Residential Services employees to provide consistent support throughout the program
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers regarding individual needs and important updates
• Follow agency policies, medication procedures, and established safety practices
• Complete electronic documentation, daily service notes, and required program records accurately and on time

New to Human Services? We'll Train You.

Previous Human Services Experience Is Not Required.

The Arc of Ocean County provides paid training and ongoing support to help new employees develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to become successful Direct Support Professionals.

Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is welcomed, but it is not required.

• Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points
• Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
