Job summary

Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional / Caregiver for the San Jose, CA area. The role focuses on training and supervision of adults with developmental challenges within our Living Services program.

Under Case Manager supervision, you will provide personal care, transport, health monitoring, and activities tailored to each participant’s needs, while maintaining safety and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Education: a high school diploma is required; a higher education degree is preferred.
• Experience: one year with developmentally disabled or demonstrated reliability and learning agility.

Responsibilities

• Provide training, personal care, and support to maximize living skills and independence.
• Supervise and engage to ensure safety, well-being, and needs are met.
• Assist with bathing, grooming, meals, health monitoring, and medication management.
• Document daily logs and report changes to supervisors.
• Transport participants for activities and appointments; promote community engagement.
