Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties in assigned area to provide a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient learning place for students and staff.
• Clean building and premises, including sidewalks and play areas.
• Sweep, mop, wet‑wash, and vacuum floors.
• Wash and clean windows, doors, and interior glass including partitions and framed pictures.
• Clean and service lavatories and restrooms.
• Clean, wax furniture.
• Renovate and renew floor surface finishes.
• Replace burned‑out light bulbs and fluorescent tubes as needed.
• Shovel, plow, and/or salt walks and steps.
• Move furniture or equipment within building as required.
• Assist in cleaning areas left undone by absent custodians.
• Open and close building, secure doors and windows, and turn off lights.
• Report acts of vandalism, littering, and unruly behavior to appropriate authority.
• Work schedule covers normal and authorized after‑school hours.
• Perform other related work as assigned.

Essential Functions

• Regular attendance required.
• Independent travel to work sites within building (mobility).
• Perform cleaning duties as listed above.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; trade school degree preferred.
• Minimum 6 months of custodial experience.
• Ability to exert 10–50 pounds of force frequently or 50–100 pounds occasionally.
• Physical ability to lift, move, and perform cleaning tasks.
• Knowledge of standard safety procedures and basic math skills (addition/subtraction of two‑digit numbers, comparing sequences, reading simple sentences).
• Basic communication skill in speaking simple sentences.
