Summary

Individual is responsible for various custodial/housekeeping duties as required in the Montgomery County Court House and any other location, as designated.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning procedures including sweep, mop floors, dust/polish furniture and equipment, clean glass at entrance doors, empty wastebaskets, remove trash, empty outside trash containers and ensure a clean, sanitary environment. Includes cleaning restrooms and restocking supplies to assure staff and visitor needs are met.
• Operate floor machines, burnishers, and carpet cleaning equipment.
• Shut down and clean each area according to a schedule, providing minimum inconvenience to employees and the general public.
• Observe custodial needs that may not be written and respond effectively to unexpected changes in work volume, emergency scheduling or staff revisions.
• Adhere to all safety rules for handling and disposing of cleaning agents, including universal precautions and proper use of personal protective equipment. Operate power equipment using guidelines for safety equipment.
• Communicate effectively with other staff and visitors, and work harmoniously with other members of the staff.
• Be trained in proper handling of chemicals and hazardous items.
• Maintain attendance and punctuality.
• Respond to any cleaning assignment during shifts, which may include janitorial duties at another County location.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior custodial experience.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands or arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. They may need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
