Job summary

Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo is seeking a custodian to join our facilities team. You will clean and maintain assigned areas, restrooms, and surfaces, including dusting, disinfecting, and trash removal. Responsibilities also include carpet care and responding to custodial emergencies.

The role supports campus events with setup and cleanup, with evening shift hours from 5pm or 7pm start times through late evenings, Monday to Friday. Prior experience is flexible; training and reliability are valued.

Qualifications

• Any combination of training, experience, and/or education sufficient to demonstrate the required skills.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas, including dusting, cleaning all surfaces, removing trash and recyclables.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms and replenish supplies; clean glass doors, windows, blinds; remove graffiti; clean furniture and upholstery; clean light fixtures; polish woodwork and metal surfaces; clean stairwells, walkways, and elevators; perform general housekeeping.
• Sweep, vacuum, spot clean and perform full clean of carpets.
• Provide custodial support, including responding to custodial/clean emergencies.
• Serve as a special event custodian; participate in campus event set-up and clean up.
