Job summary

A Gem of Joy ABA in Maryland is seeking a part-time Supervising BCBA to oversee a caseload of learners and guide BCBAs, RBTs, and families.

You will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, monitor progress weekly, and ensure documentation is timely. Evening hours 3–8pm with in-person requirements to satisfy monthly in-person obligations.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in education, psychology, ABA, or similar field.
  • Current, active BCBA certification (BCBA-D acceptable) and Maryland LBA license.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with individuals with ASD or I/DD.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary contact between learners/families and A Gem of Joy ABA.
  • Complete initial and ongoing assessments of learner skills and behaviors.
  • Create individualized ABA treatment plans using assessment results.
  • Monitor data weekly and update treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide supervision and training to RBTs and caregivers.

Job description

Note: Applicants must live in or within driving distance to Maryland (primarily Baltimore) as 25% of 97155 and 97156 are must be completed in-person each month.

Come join us as we work to permeate the ABA landscape with genuine JOY! As the Heart of Growth & Journey Guide (Supervising BCBA) at A Gem of Joy ABA, you will be responsible for nurturing progress with insight, compassion, and steady guidance for your teams.

Position Summary

This position is specifically for a part‑time BCBA to work with evening cases. BCBAs report directly to the Clinical Director and/or VP of Clinical Operations, where applicable. The Supervising BCBA is responsible for the management of a reasonable caseload (pending availability) of learners, families, and Behavior Technicians. The Supervising BCBA serves as the primary point of contact for families, RBTs, and other providers as it relates to learners on their caseload. Supervising BCBAs are responsible for upholding A Gem of Joy ABA Quality Standards, as well as implementing best practices in Applied Behavior Analysis, for all programs that they are responsible for overseeing. Working hours for this position are generally between 3-8pm but scheduling is flexible based on the BCBA's needs so long as monthly requirements are met.

Qualifications
Education
  • Master’s degree or higher in education, psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or similar field.
Certification
  • Current, active certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA® or BCBA-D®)
  • Current, active license to practice ABA in the state of Maryland (Maryland LBA).
  • Completion of 8 hour supervision training (eligibility to serve as RBT Supervisor® or RBT Requirements Coordinator®).
Work Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years working with individuals with ASD or intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).
  • Experience completing behavior analytic assessments for both skill acquisition and behavior reduction.
  • Experience utilizing assessment results to create individualized treatment plans to effectively reduce challenging behavior and/or teach new skills.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of CPT® codes relevant to the provision of applied behavior analysis services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing various assessment tools for evaluating challenging behavior and current adaptive functioning levels.
  • Supervisory skills, including training and oversight of behavior technicians.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: Proficiency using (or prior exposure to) Microsoft 365 applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).
Job Duties
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between learners/families on your caseload and A Gem of Joy ABA, excluding situations that require escalation to the CD.
  • Complete initial and ongoing assessments of learner skills and challenging behaviors.
  • Complete initial and ongoing assessments of parent/caregiver skills and proficiency implementing ABA strategies with their child.
  • Use assessment results and family priorities to create individualized, medically necessary ABA treatment plans for each learner on your caseload.
  • Frequently review data and progress (minimally weekly), making updates to the learner’s treatment plan as needed to ensure continued progress.
  • Report on treatment outcomes including progress on assessments, treatment plan goals, and readiness for discharge/graduation from ABA services.
  • Provide training and support to BTs, RBTs, and caregivers on the implementation of ABA strategies and the learner’s treatment plan, collecting data on procedural integrity.
  • Serve as RBT Supervisor for all RBTs working with your learners, ensuring initial and ongoing supervision, competency, and training requirements are met.
  • Serve as Responsible Supervisor for RBTs and BATs accruing supervised fieldwork hours, where applicable.
  • Create and implement Success Plans for RBTs, BCaBAs, and/or Behavior Analysts in Training that are working under your supervision, when appropriate.
  • Timely completion of all necessary documentation, including assessments, progress reports, time sheets, session notes, and caregiver signatures (where applicable).
  • Other administrative duties, as assigned.
