Job summary

Wingspan, the Center for Learning and Writing Support at KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park, KS, invites applications for an ASL Tutor to support students in the American Sign Language & Deaf Studies program. Sessions may be held on campus or virtually, with most evenings between 4pm and 9pm.

The role requires fluent ASL, tutoring experience, and familiarity with ASL curricula such as Signing Naturally or TrueWay ASL. On-site with future hybrid possibility; apply with cover letter and CV.

Qualifications

• Fluency in ASL evidenced in application materials.
• Experience tutoring/teaching ASL evidenced in application materials.
• Familiarity with ASL curricula (e.g. Signing Naturally, TrueWay ASL).

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support to ASL students, including one-on-one and small-group sessions.
• Participate in tutor education and development; pursue Level 1 CRLA certification within 12 months; Level 2 encouraged.
• Attend ASL program events and support instruction as needed.
• Maintain a positive, organized learning environment and complete administrative tasks.
• Other duties as assigned, including leading ASL academic support events.
