Job summary

Job Summary

Evaluate student records from other institutions primarily to determine applicability of transfer course work and, as needed, to determine transfer admission eligibility.

Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

  • Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,262 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,262 - $5,998 per month.

To be eligible for full benefits, employees must be appointed at least half-time (.50 FTE) with an appointment lasting more than six months and one day. This position brings a strong understanding of academic records evaluation and transfer credit analysis, with the ability to accurately assess and maintain student academic information in accordance with university policies and procedures. They are skilled in reviewing transcripts and supporting documentation, verifying institutional accreditation, evaluating transferability of coursework, calculating transferable units and grade points, and determining credit for examinations, military service, and other non-traditional learning experiences. This individual demonstrates proficiency in utilizing PeopleSoft, imaging systems, and articulation resources to research course equivalencies, resolve record discrepancies, maintain degree audits, and accurately post transfer degrees. They also contribute to the continuous improvement of evaluation processes by identifying system issues, maintaining data integrity, supporting operational needs through cross-training, and assisting with the onboarding and training of new staff members.

In addition, the ideal candidate possesses the ability to interpret and apply complex admissions, transfer, and degree requirement policies while providing exceptional service to students, academic departments, counselors, and campus partners. They communicate clearly and professionally through various channels, offering guidance on transfer evaluations, admissions eligibility, application status, and academic requirements. They demonstrate a customer-focused approach, exercising diplomacy, tact, and sound judgment when assisting diverse populations in one-on-one consultations, orientations, workshops, and other student-facing settings.

The successful candidate is highly organized and committed to maintaining current reference materials, evaluation resources, and procedural documentation. They collaborate effectively with colleagues and external educational institutions to clarify policies, grading practices, and course information, ensuring accurate and consistent evaluations. Through their attention to detail, analytical skills, and commitment to student success, they support the integrity of academic records and contribute to the overall effectiveness of Enrollment Services operations while performing additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to one year of experience related to academic records evaluation required.

Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects (10 pounds or less).

Additional Information

CSULB is not a sponsoring agency for staff and management positions (i.e. H-1B Visas).

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSULB will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Due to the nature of this position, current CSULB employees are subject to a criminal record check unless they have successfully completed a criminal background check through CSULB within the past 12 months.
