Job summary

Colonial House, Incorporated is seeking an evaluator to perform initial intakes, ASAM-based assessments, and referrals for outpatient drug and alcohol services in York, PA. You will maintain accurate clinical records and collaborate with probation/parole under CFR42 confidentiality guidelines.

Requirements include a masters or equivalent in social work or related field with clinical experience; or bachelor's with two years in AOD/mental health settings; or equivalent credentials.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field plus one year of clinical experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field from an accredited college with two or more years in an AOD or mental health setting. LCSW/LSW/LPC preferred.
• Associates degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing or related field and 4 years of experience in a drug and alcohol setting.
• Full certification as an addictions counselor by a statewide certification body and 3 years of clinical experience in health or human services including 1 year with chemically dependent persons.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, CBT/DBT, and motivational therapies; sensitivity to diversity and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Conduct screening interviews to determine appropriateness for outpatient services and referrals.

• Complete SCA and DDAP documentation timely.
• Ensure compliance with policies and standards.
• Follow up if appointments are missed and offer rescheduling.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and provide back-up to Therapists.

Job description

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for conducting initial intakes, assessments, and evaluations to determine the level of appropriateness for outpatient drug and alcohol services based on ASAM Criteria. The evaluator is responsible for keeping accurate documentation on all clinical interactions with each client. The evaluator must be knowledgeable of other treatment provides and be able to make necessary referrals as needed. The evaluator will be responsible for corresponding and coordinating with probation and parole using five points of CFR42 confidentiality Laws.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conduct screening interviews to determine appropriateness for drug and alcohol outpatient services and make referrals to appropriate health and human services agencies as needed based on the outcome of the screening interview.

2. Conduct confidential, quality assessments, that are gender-responsive and trauma-informed, utilizing ASAM criteria to determine the appropriate level of care.

3. Use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with clients and internal and external treatment team members to help support clients in their treatment and recovery

4. Provide clinical consultation to referral resources, Mentors, family members, and others to help support clients in their recovery

5. Work closely with clients to engage them in the decision-making process and help them understand the benefits of assessment and accessing the appropriate level of care as indicated

6. Collect and review referral information upon assignment of clients from the referral source and consult with others as needed to support coordination of services and scheduling of client interviews

7. Contact clients to confirm appointment dates, times, and assessment locations

8. Collect information from collateral resources to aid in determining diagnosis and need for treatment

9. Based on assessments, make referrals to the most appropriate programs and agencies to help clients access the right level of care to best meet their treatment needs

10. Complete paperwork requirements and maintain quality, up-to-date clinical records

11. Identifying issues and/or concerns and create goals and treatment plans

12. Maintain working knowledge of other drug and alcohol treatment agencies and programs and a list of resources that can be shared with clients

13. Corresponds with Probation and Parole using the 5 points of CFR42 Confidentiality Laws

14. Completes all SCA and DDAP documentation within the appropriate timeframes

15. Remain in compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, including Quality Assurance Plan, DDAP requirements, State Licensing standards, County Monitoring requirements

16. If client does not keep assessment appointment, follow up by phone, mail or email and offer to reschedule the appointment

17. Participate in all assigned meetings, staff development, and training as required

18. Provide back-up assistance to Therapists with group therapy and psycho-education groups as necessary.

19. Any other duties deemed necessary by the Clinical Supervisor-Outpatient, Program Manager, or Executive Director

Qualifications:

This position requires a Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field from an accredited college plus one year of clinical experience in an alcohol or other drugs (AOD) or mental health setting preferred or

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field from an accredited college with two or more years in an AOD or mental health setting. An LCSW, LSW, or LPC preferred or a combination of comparable skills, experience, and education or

Associates degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a specialty in nursing/health administration, nursing/counseling education or a clinical specialty in human services), public administration, business management or other related field and 4 years of experience in a drug and alcohol setting or

Full certification as an addictions counselor by a statewide certification body which is a member of a national certification body or certification by another state government substance abuse counseling certification board and 3 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent person or

GED/High School diploma with 4 years of experience working in health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent person.

This position requires an understanding and knowledge of a trauma-informed system of care along with experience with trauma-informed services, cognitive behavioral therapies including DBT, and motivational therapies. Personal recovery experience not required. However, knowledge of recovery support systems and 12-Step programs preferred. Strong interpersonal and engagement skills, strong organizational and time-management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills required, and the ability to support the agency’s mission and philosophy and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and workplace harmony. This position may involve occasional travel to other worksites, all within York County.
