Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an EV Inverter Manufacturing Engineer to develop and document key inverter assembly processes and support mass production. You will work on laser welding, PCBA soldering, and related assembly steps while coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure robust tooling and process reliability.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years of electrical module assembly experience, with strong DFMA, DOE, and root-cause analysis skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Two years of electrical module assembly experience.
• Understanding of product development workstreams and DFMA activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document Inverter manufacturing and assembly processes (laser welding, PCBA soldering, etc).
• Develop and maintain engineering specifications for the Inverter assembly.
• Support tier 1 Inverter assembler with adapting assembly processes toward mass production.
• Contribute to selection of production equipment for the inverter assembly.
• Prototype manufacturing tools and fixtures to aid the inverter assembly process.
• Create tools/fixtures for production and maintain parts for prototypes.
• Serve as SPOC for traction inverter commodity with cross-functional teams.

Role summary / purpose

EV Inverter Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing and documenting the key Inverter assembly processes as well as supporting the tier 1 Inverter assembler with implementing the Inverter assembly processes for production.

Key responsibilities

• Developing and documenting Inverter manufacturing and assembly processes i.e. laser welding PCBA soldering etc.
• Develop and maintain engineering specifications for the Inverter assembly
• Support tier 1 Inverter assembler with adapting Inverter assembly processes toward mass production
• Contribute toward decision making of tier 1 Inverter assembler production equipment selection
• Prototyping manufacturing tools and fixtures to aid in the Inverter assembly process
• Support tier 1 Inverter assembler with developing/creating manufacturing tools and fixtures for production
• Conduct DOEs to prove out Inverter manufacturing and assembly processes
• Maintain and procure parts to develop prototype manufacturing tools/fixtures
• SPOC for the traction inverter commodity supporting systems team to manage track and report out on all timing cost engineering deliverable and issue status
• Manages traction inverter component BOM and electrical interfaces/ device transmittals with cross-functional teams
• Leading GPDS unit and program deliverables unit requirements design rules etc. and reporting out milestone status to cross-functional teams

Requirements - education & experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering or science field
• Two years of electrical module assembly experience
• Understanding of electrical module DFM requirements
• Understanding of product development workstreams- specification development design build validation and industrialization activities
• In-depth knowledge of developing engineering specifications for assembly processes
• Good written and communication skills
