Job summary

Orange EV is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician to support start-up, document issues, and collaborate with software and process teams to resolve startup challenges in prototype and production environments.

The role requires hands-on fabrication, CAN bus and electrical diagnostics expertise, and the ability to mentor technicians while driving process improvements on the floor.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• “5+ years of relevant experience spanning prototype fabrication/test and electronic testing, repair, or manufacturing support — preferably in electric vehicles.”
• “Ability to integrate test beds with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) enabling real-time pass/fail data logging and process enforcement across the production floor.”
• “Strong understanding of CAN bus operation, high-voltage DC systems, and voltage system isolation.”
• “Proficiency with diagnostic tools like PCAN/CANoe, multimeters and oscilloscopes.”
• “Hands‑on fabrication skill with sheet metal, assembly tools, and electrical wiring.”
• “Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.”
• “Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented.”
• “Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.”
• “Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or related software.”

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve production issues at the OEV plant using diagnostic and CAN analysis tools.
• Investigate communication between automotive MCUs to identify and troubleshoot failures.
• Analyze and trace communication-related issues to pinpoint electrical faults.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Process teams to document start-up issues and record corrective actions.
• Define and build test beds including objectives, requirements, and validation of tests.
• Set up and operate test equipment to analyze component performance under simulated conditions.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams; write technical test reports.
• Perform preventive maintenance and calibration on electrical instruments and inspect designs for QA.
• Assist engineers with research, data collection, cost estimation, and procurement of electrical supplies.
