Job summary

OpenKrill is seeking an experienced Medior Innovation Consultant to secure European funding for innovative projects across Europe, with a strong emphasis on Horizon Europe, EDF, and Digital Europe. You will transform technical ideas into compelling proposals and build international consortia with partners in Portugal and across Europe.

Join our Portuguese team, report to the Director of PNO Innovation Portugal, and collaborate with colleagues across European offices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in European funding, innovation consulting, or closely related activities
• Independent development, writing, and coordination of EU funding proposals
• Technical or engineering background enabling engagement with technical stakeholders
• Strong technical understanding of industrial innovation sectors such as defence, security, resilience, space, or advanced materials

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation, writing, and coordination of competitive European funding proposals from concept to submission
• Identify and assess funding opportunities under Horizon Europe, EDF, Digital Europe, and other programmes
• Translate technical concepts into strong project proposals and coordinate international consortia
• Develop proposal strategies, work packages, and implementation plans aligned with programme requirements and evaluation criteria
• Monitor European policy developments and emerging opportunities in strategic technologies
• Maintain relationships with companies, research institutions, and innovation stakeholders in Portugal and Europe
• Support business development by identifying potential clients and leveraging your professional network
