Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Roadmap

• Develop and maintain the ETF product strategy and multi-year roadmap.
• Identify market opportunities, competitive gaps, and client demand trends.
• Build business cases for new ETF launches, product enhancements, and strategic initiatives.
• Define product vision, prioritization, and success metrics.

Product Development & Delivery

• Lead cross-functional teams through the product lifecycle from concept to launch.
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications.
• Coordinate with technology teams to deliver ETF trading, market-making, RFQ, OMS, risk management, and client-facing capabilities.
• Manage product enhancements, releases, and production support.

ETF Market & Competitive Analysis

• Monitor ETF industry trends, fund flows, asset growth, and competitor offerings.
• Analyze pricing, liquidity, spread performance, and client adoption metrics.
• Recommend enhancements to maintain competitive differentiation.
• Research emerging investment themes and regulatory developments.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as primary liaison between:
  • Trading desks
  • Portfolio managers
  • Technology teams
  • Operations
  • Risk & Compliance
  • Legal
  • Sales & Distribution
  • External vendors and exchanges
• Present product updates and business cases to senior leadership and steering committees.

Investigates and identifies strategies to optimize business operations and services, and inform business decisions. Defines business requirements to inform technology build and operations by sourcing and analyzing relevant data, reviewing and documenting business processes and collaborating with business stakeholders. Sources business and market data to evaluate the effect of projects on business results. Also assesses the efficiency and the performance of technology (software, hardware and the wider IT system) to deliver expected business results. Identifies and analyzes malfunctions, system workflow, and troubleshoots issues raised by business.

• Elicits requirements and analyzes feasibility to ensure solutions/initiatives achieve the expected business outcomes.
• Supports various project teams across the project lifecycle to ensure development is aligned with the business requirements.
• Develops informative, coherent, and usable project documents (project artifacts) for multiple stakeholders covering functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Applies depth of domain & functional expertise for the assigned portfolio to drive the expected business value.
• Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
• Builds tests cases in order to validate business requirements and End-User Testing results.
• Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a senior specialist resource across BMO.
• Influences how teams/groups work together.
• Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to multiple, interdependent, complex problems.
• Communicates abstract concepts in simple terms.
• Fosters strong internal and external networks and works with and across multiple teams to achieve business objectives.
• Anticipates trends and responds by implementing appropriate changes.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
