Job summary

Responsibilities

• Reports safety hazards and completes discharge room checklists daily.
• Returns carts, equipment, and supplies to storeroom in clean condition on shift end.
• Uses cleaning chemicals per manufacturer instructions 100% of the time.
• Duties completed according to a daily checklist for the assigned area.
• Keeps mirrors and windows clean daily; replenishes paper and soap supplies.

Overview

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, performs various housekeeping duties in an assigned area of the Hospital to ensure a clean, fresh, safe, and esthetically pleasing environment. Performs listed duties daily - following a duty list for an assigned area. Attends meetings and uses a checklist to ensure all areas are completed at the end of the shift.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)

• As schedule allows, Housekeeping cleans the rooms/areas in which patient equipment is stored, i.e., IV Poles, Blood Pressure Pumps and Temperature Pumps.
• Responsible for removing regular and infectious waste as needed.
• Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the compactor area.
• Relocate carefully and completely furniture, equipment and boxes instructed to designated locations.
• Assist floor finishers as directed by Supervisor.
• Reports any security issues to Supervisor promptly 100% of the time.
• Required communicating all concerns to Supervisor promptly.
• Reports any assigned work not completed to Supervisor at end of shift.
• Reports safety hazards to Supervisor daily and uses checkout forms to record all discharge rooms cleaned daily.
• Return all carts, equipment, key pagers and unused supplies to Storeroom in clean condition at end of shifts.
• Follows work rules 100% of the time.
• Uses chemicals and supplies as trained and accordingly to manufacturer's recommendations 100% of the time.
• Strip and makes patient room beds for dismissal cleaning daily.
• Dry and wet mop all floors daily with approved cleaning agent.
• Polishes all stainless steel weekly and on an as needed basis.
• Performs clean up of spills wherever assigned and/or observed.
• Replaces in room needle containers when necessary.
• Uses Bed-Tracking system property 100% of the time.
• Uses step cleaning method consistently.
• Dusts all horizontal and vertical surfaces daily with an approved cleaning agent.
• Spot cleans walls as necessary.
• Damp wipe all patient room furniture daily using approved cleaning agent.
• Cleans all porcelain and metal fixtures in restrooms daily with an approved cleaning agent.
• Cleans shower rooms and stalls daily.
• Replenish all paper and soap supplies in dispensers daily.
• Clean all mirrors and windows daily with approved cleaning agent.
• Performs duties daily following a checklist for an assigned area using proper chemicals, equipment and technique.
• Checks cart before leaving Central Storeroom to make sure that cart has necessary equipment and supplies.
• Vacuum all carpeting daily where applicable.
• Performs buffing duties as assigned per duty list.
• Completes and turns in all checklists are used 100% of the time.
• Meets written standards of cleanliness 100% of the time.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Minimum Requirements) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
• Must be able to work as part of a group.

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Preferred
• GED Equivalent must be secured within one year of employment

EXPERIENCE

• 1 year Environmental Services Preferred
