Job summary

Thompson Pipe Group in Rialto, California is seeking an Estimator to lead bid preparation for steel and concrete pressure pipe projects. The role requires deep experience in full-cycle estimating, regulatory compliance, and collaborating with Sales, Engineering, and Project Coordination to optimize bids.

The Estimator will develop estimates from conceptual drawings, maintain cost databases, and ensure accuracy across the proposal cycle, contributing to strategic market success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
• High level knowledge in estimating for proposals of manufactured steel and concrete pipe.
• Experience with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Experience with discipline-specific industry standards.
• Ability to produce accurate estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings.
• Ability to produce detailed, final contract estimates.
• Ability to assess site exposures/construction risks and reflect these in an estimate.
• Ability to identify constructability issues and value-engineering alternatives.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or assist in the preparation of cost estimates for standard and special products on all projects bid.
• Maintain or assist in the maintenance of current cost information on materials, supplies, and services purchased.
• Be knowledgeable of current design and fabrication techniques affecting pipe costs; revise estimating procedures accordingly.
• Assist other functions by preparing cost analyses of alternative designs or production methods.
• Obtain and evaluate data pertaining to direct costs from Data Processing; perform related tasks as assigned by Corporate Estimating Manager.
