gpac is assisting a well-established General Contractor in Grand Rapids, MI, to hire an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator for its preconstruction team. This role focuses on developing accurate estimates for ground-up commercial construction projects from initial review through final bid.

The candidate will manage the estimating process, review drawings and documents, perform quantity takeoffs, and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure comprehensive bid coverage across all trades.

Qualifikationen

• 5+ years of estimating experience specifically with ground-up commercial construction projects
• Proven ability to independently prepare detailed and accurate full-project estimates
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, sequencing, and multiple trade scopes
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents across multiple trades
• Advanced proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel, including formulas, templates, and data organization

• Prepare conceptual, negotiated, and competitive bid estimates for ground-up commercial construction projects
• Manage the estimating process from initial project review through final bid submission
• Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine complete project scope across multiple trades
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and general conditions
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor proposals
• Identify scope gaps and ensure appropriate bid coverage across all trades
• Maintain bid schedules and manage multiple estimates simultaneously, typically 2–3+ projects
• Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct occasional site visits to evaluate existing conditions and project requirements
• Partner with Project Managers and other construction leadership throughout preconstruction and project planning
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
• Ensure estimates meet established bidding procedures, accuracy standards, and project requirements

COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

A well-established General Contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join its growing preconstruction team. This individual will be responsible for developing accurate, comprehensive estimates for ground-up commercial construction projects from initial review through final bid.

This is a HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL SEARCH. All company information will be shared directly with qualified candidates.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of estimating experience specifically with ground-up commercial construction projects
• Demonstrated experience estimating complete projects from start to finish
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, sequencing, and multiple trade scopes
• Proven ability to independently prepare detailed and accurate full-project estimates
• Advanced proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel, including formulas, templates, and data organization
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents across multiple trades
• Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and subcontractor bid leveling
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple active bids and deadlines

Candidates whose estimating experience is exclusively residential or limited to a single specialty trade—such as roofing, plumbing, electrical, concrete, etc.—will not meet the requirements for this position. Ground-up commercial construction estimating experience is required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Healthcare, public works, and/or multifamily construction experience
• Procore or comparable construction management software
• Experience working within a General Contractor environment
