Job summary

Jjwws is seeking an experienced construction estimator to manage budgeting, planning and bidding for service order projects in Maryland. You will write proposals, obtain bids, monitor progress and ensure code compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least 2 years in construction estimating and PM; a certification in building codes and estimating is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 2 years experience in construction estimating and project management.
  • Preferred: Certification in Building codes and Estimating.
  • Experience as an estimator or similar role.
  • Familiar with financials and project management principles.
  • Strong data analysis and estimation formula knowledge.
  • Strong math and IT skills with analytical mindset.
  • Proficient in estimating software.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and estimate budget costs for construction from plans.
  • Evaluate offers to purchase based on site requirements, additions, and costing changes.
  • Resolve cost differences by analyzing information.
  • Write budgets, reports, and project plans.
  • Develop bids for construction projects.
  • Collaborate with architects and other professionals.
  • Schedule meetings with clients, site managers, staff.
  • Understand building codes.
  • Process paperwork and travel to sites as required.
  • Monitor construction processes.
  • Stay updated with safety codes and improvements.

Job description

Perform walking, planning, cost estimation, and scheduling for all service order projects. This includes writing proposals, designing projects, obtaining subcontractor bids, monitoring projects, and providing interim and final inspections of all service order projects

  • Works closely with architects and other professionals.
  • Schedules meetings with clients, site managers, and staff.
  • Navigates and understands building codes.
  • Processes paperwork and travels to building sites as required.
  • Monitors construction processes.
  • Stays up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction.
Education, Experience and Certification:

Required: High School Diploma

Required: 2 Years of Construction estimating and project management

Preferred: Certification of Building codes and Estimating

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proven experience as an estimator or similar position
  • Familiarity with financials and project management principles
  • In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas
  • Exquisite math and IT ability with analytical mindset
  • Proficient in relevant software for estimating.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills

The base salary range for this position is $82,000 to $85,000. This position may also be eligible for a wide range of competitive benefits that can include but not limited to: medical, well-being, financial planning and short-term incentives benefits.
