Job summary

RESA Power is seeking an Estimator in Wixom, MI to support sales with project quotes and pricing. You will prepare bills of materials, analyze proposals, and generate cost estimates to meet customer specifications.

The role involves coordinating with sales, project managers, and the GM, with on-site visits when needed. Required are an associate degree or equivalent experience and at least 5 years in a related field, with skills in reading blueprints, AutoCAD, and MS Office.

Position Summary

The Estimator is responsible for being an organized, service-orientated individual to provide support to our sales staff with project quotes and pricing. The estimator will prepare a bill of material and cost estimates by analyzing proposals and requirements. This position will be responsible for communicating with a variety of departments, vendors, employees, and customers to ensure estimates are completed on time and appropriate paperwork is completed as per company and Customer specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
    • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
    • If necessary, will visit Customer Site for job walk.
  • Identifies labor, material, and time requirements based on the documents provided. Create bill of materials (BOM), order materials and approving all material invoices.
    • Computes costs by analyzing the labor, material, and time requirements.
    • Requesting quotes for equipment and Power components from supplier
    • Perform Takeoffs and estimates for work position is quoting.
    • Create proposals and regularly following up on prepared bids.
  • Coordinating work with Sales staff, project managers and General Manager.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and industry publications.
  • Contributes to team effort by meeting company and Customer expectations.
  • All work and decisions shall be conducted in strict compliance with all regulatory law.
  • Observe all safety rules and Best Practices; Follow all company policies and procedures.

Required Experience and Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in related field or experience equivalency and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Ability to read and understand complex blueprints, schematics, parts lists, and additional technical materials for troubleshooting circuit breakers and electrical power equipment.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and MS Office Suite.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and peers.
  • Dependable and responsible with good judgment and organizational skills.
  • Good customer service, time management and follow-up skills.
  • Self-management of assigned projects and job cost accountability to perform work within budgeted cost estimates.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.

Additional Information

Type: Full-time

Location: Wixom, MI

Compensation: $34.56 USD to $48.39 USD, depending on skillset, certification, and experience, and eligible for overtime.

Travel: 0-5% travel.

Relocation: Relocation assistance is available for highly qualified candidates.

Benefits: Full benefits including medical, dental, vision, company paid life insurance, milestone gifts, matching 401k, and paid time off.

Application Details: The position will stay open until filled - seeking one FTE.

Physical Demands: Occasionally lifting or moving a maximum of 50lbs on a daily, crawling, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and working in non-ideal conditions. Daily computer and phone work.
