Job description

Estimator II – Healthcare professional (Minnesota)

Ryan Companies is hiring an Estimator II to support estimating management during the preconstruction process, focusing on the creation and analysis of detailed cost information.

Responsibilities
  • Work with preconstruction managers, project managers, and other estimators to develop accurate and timely conceptual and detailed estimates.
  • Perform quantity take-offs of all construction systems.
  • Solicit subcontractor pricing for budgeting and bidding events.
  • Scope, select, and recommend subcontractors based on best value and project requirements.
  • Create and monitor project estimate updates as the project scope evolves and refines.
  • Champion data integrity through consistent archiving of estimates and tracking historic costs.
  • Support the development, architecture, and construction teams with preconstruction expertise, including cost validation, value design, preconstruction project schedule input, procurement lead times, and project pursuit assistance.
  • Support, review, and provide feedback on project estimates created by the project managers and other estimators.
  • Assist and mentor new estimators, project managers, and preconstruction engineers.
  • Assist clients and developers with conceptual budgets, capable of cost modeling using the Uniformat II system costs.
  • Assist with Healthcare Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA), Life Safety, and Construction Phasing Plan development.
  • Project types include Out‑Patient Clinics, In‑Patient Hospital Expansions and Renovations, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, and Medical Specialty Centers.
Candidate Requirements
  • 4‑year engineering, architectural, or management degree, or significant experience in a relevant field.
  • 6+ years of commercial construction experience.
  • Knowledge of construction means and methods and ability to read and understand project plans.
  • Proficiency with CSI and Uniformat II work‑breakdown structures.
  • Strong quantity take‑off skills and ability to summarize data meaningfully.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of OST, Bluebeam, VICO, Navisworks, and Revit is a plus.
  • Familiarity with design‑build, CM at Risk, and best‑value processes.
  • Ability to teach skills and knowledge to others.
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to prioritize and value the opinions of others.

Compensation
