Job summary

Vaco by Highspring in Jessup, Maryland seeks an experienced estimator to prepare cost estimates and proposals, analyze blueprints, and collaborate with contractors and project leaders on upcoming projects.

You will read drawings, use estimating software, develop detailed budgets, and present quotes to stakeholders; prior experience in construction or manufacturing cost estimating is preferred. This role offers full-time employment and a path to growth within a national staffing group.

Key duties

• Communicating with contractors or vendors, using estimating software and presenting suggestions to project leaders regarding upcoming projects.
• Preparing accurate cost estimates and proposals
• Estimators calculate the cost and resources needed for a construction or manufacturing project. This task includes evaluating the materials, labor and equipment required for a project and developing a detailed budget and schedule. Work with other professionals, including consultants, contractors, accountants and operations personnel
• Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints and project plans
• Review project drawings, specifications, and scope documents bid packages to develop detailed, accurate material and labor cost estimates materials, and production time.
• Drawings and provide detailed proposals to support sales and bid process.
• Prepare formal quotes and proposals in response to bid requests from contractors, subcontractors, and architects
• New bids, contracts, and other sales growth opportunities.
• Product costing work with contractors
• Preparing material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service
• Able to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Preparing quotes and RFP/proposals within a construction environment
• Developing and maintaining relationships with vendors and contractors
• Managing bids from vendors and contractors
