Job summary

The Civi Group is seeking an Estimator with a strong background in heavy civil estimating to support projects in the Northern Boston area. The role focuses on quantity take-offs, cost management, budgeting, and bid preparation for heavy civil, highway, bridge, and marine works.

Responsibilities include collaborating with project teams, analyzing plans, preparing RFPs, and managing vendor quotes. A bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in heavy civil estimating are preferred.

About the job Estimator - Civil / Highways / Bridges / Marine

The Civi Group has partnered with one of the leading family-owned bridge, highway, transit, railroad, and marine contractors in Northern Boston in their search for an Estimator with a specialized background in heavy civil estimating.

As the Estimator, you will be responsible for day-to-day tasks associated with estimating construction projects, including quantity take-offs, cost management, communication, and budgeting. The role will involve performing field take-offs, communicating with construction teams and subcontractors, preparing RFPs, and analyzing bids.

Compensation:

  • Salary: Up to approximately $140K based on experience
  • Benefits: Includes health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and the opportunity for performance-based bonuses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with project team members.
  • Interpret plans and identify construction materials for bidding purposes, with a focus on heavy civil projects.
  • Manage project scoping, clarification, and pricing efforts.
  • Maintain project lists and vendor database.
  • Generate estimates through quantity take-offs and subcontractor/vendor quotes.
  • Assist with schedules and estimates as required.
  • Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings.

Skills & Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Engineering, or Construction Management preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of heavy civil estimating experience, with a track record in highway, bridge, marine, rail, and trackwork projects.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Strong mathematical and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment.
