Job summary

Bituminous Roadways, Inc. is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare standard and moderately complex public estimates from initial review through bid submission, project setup, and awarded-project turnover.

The role may be assigned to paving, milling, or reconstruction estimating lanes. You will develop labor, material, trucking, and subcontractor costs in B2W Estimate, review plans and bids, maintain organized bid files, and participate in formal bid reviews.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years estimating, project engineering, project management, or heavy civil construction experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with unit-price and lump-sum estimates preferred.
  • Knowledge of local markets, suppliers, subcontractors, and public-work requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
  • Review project opportunities and provide input to bid and no-bid risk assessments.
  • Review plans, proposals, specifications, addenda, schedules, and bid requirements.
  • Complete quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Build labor, equipment, material, trucking, subcontractor, and indirect costs in B2W Estimate.
  • Solicit reliable subcontractors and suppliers and maintain required quote coverage.
  • Level quotations for scope gaps, qualifications, exclusions, and duplication.
  • Know and account for applicable EEO, DBE, wage, agency, and other public requirements.
  • Document scope, assumptions, exclusions, production logic, risks, and unresolved questions.
  • Coordinate with operations and project management for constructability, production, schedule, and resource input.
  • Maintain organized bid files, quote logs, addenda records, and estimate documentation.
  • Prepare accurate and timely bid forms, proposals, review materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in formal bid reviews and clearly explain the complete estimate.
  • Complete bid-result tracking and post-bid customer follow-up.
  • Perform required project setup for awarded work and prepare a complete turnover package.
  • Represent BR positively at customer, agency, and industry events as requested.

Pay Type / Range:

Salary. $90,000 - $130,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications). Bonus Program eligibility.
(This pay range is a good-faith estimate of compensation for this role.)

Job Summary: This position independently prepares standard and moderately complex public estimates from initial review through bid submission, post-bid follow-up, project setup, and awarded-project handoff. The role may be assigned to the Paving / Milling or Reconstruction estimating lane.

  • Participate in project closeout and actual-cost feedback reviews.
  • Assist with timely workload inventory communication.
  • Represent BR positively at customer, agency, and industry events as requested.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 3 or more years of estimating, project engineering, project management, or heavy civil construction experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with unit-price and lump-sum estimates preferred.
  • Knowledge of local markets, suppliers, subcontractors, and public-work requirements.
  • Previous experience in asphalt paving, milling, reconstruction, grading, utilities, sitework, or heavy civil construction preferred.
  • Proficiency with B2W Estimate or similar software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently read and interpret plans, specifications, proposals, and contract documents.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, accountability, accuracy, and time-management skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to perform site visits.
  • Office-based with frequent travel to project sites, customer meetings, pre-bid walkthroughs, and industry events.
  • Regular coordination with field operations, agencies, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
