Job summary

HDR is seeking an Estimator I to join our Building Engineering Services Group in the United States. You will develop, evaluate, and present cost data for construction estimates across varied programs, from preliminary studies to definitive proposals.

You will coordinate with design and construction staff to obtain scope data and ensure accuracy within defined parameters. Ideal candidates have a civil engineering or construction background, strong communication skills, and familiarity with

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Construction Science Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of General Contracting, EPC construction methods, processes, and procedures, in addition to general construction industry methods, terminology, working practices and organizational structure
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, cost estimating and project control software
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Sponsorship (visa) for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate understanding and ability to interpret construction plans and specifications with respect to preparing cost estimates
  • Take responsibility for completeness and accuracy of estimates within defined parameters
  • Work on estimates that may reflect any part or total project, or changes to the project
  • Coordinate with design and construction staff to obtain estimate scope and schedule data upon which to base estimates
  • Perform other duties as needed

In the role of Estimator I, we'll count on you to:
  • Develop, evaluate, compile, and present scope and cost data for construction and project estimates

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous field experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of MEP systems
  • Preferred Project experience to include: Data Center, Chip Manufacturing, Industrial, Healthcare or Lab Science
  • Experience with Sage, Timberline, Bluebeam, Revit, HCSS, Excel, Navisworks or Synchro
  • Certifications (one or more): AEP, CCT, CEP, CACM, CMIT, PSP, EVP, PMI-SP, EIT
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
