Job summary

Nucor Buildings Group is seeking an Estimator to support sales and profitability for low-rise steel building projects. You will prepare competitive, accurate cost proposals and work with multiple departments to deliver value-driven quotes.

This role emphasizes safety, cost awareness, and collaboration with customers, plants, and outside sales, requiring proficiency in reading drawings, Excel, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret: Architectural drawings, structural drawings, building specifications, site plans
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc..)
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Creating competitive, accurate and thorough estimates for metal building systems.
• Qualifying the proposal with all assumed and supplementary information.
• Assisting sales with economical solutions to provide least-cost proposals.
• Participating in customer meetings to offer value-engineering suggestions.
• Using pricing tables and product knowledge to address costs.
• Maintaining awareness of material costs, erection and fabrication procedures.
• Following schedules defined by Estimating Supervisor and sales team.
• Developing tools and standards to increase productivity and accuracy.

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Buildings Group Commercial Services is seeking a talented individual that can assist the company in sales and profit by developing safe, accurate, and cost-effective metal building system quotes. Nucor Buildings Group is seeking someone that is able to work with all departments, plant, and outside sales as an integral part of the NBG team.

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for performing all quote functions required for estimating and creation of proposals for low-rise steel building projects. This will include:

• Creating competitive, accurate and thorough estimates for metal building systems in accordance with company processes, procedures, and practices.
• Qualifying the proposal with all assumed and supplementary provided information about the project.
• Assisting the sales efforts by recognizing and implementing economical solutions and alternatives to provide the least-cost proposal while meeting known project conditions.
• Assisting in customer meetings, primarily at the proposal or closing stage of a project, to offer value-engineering suggestions.
• Utilizing computer tools, pricing tables, and an overall knowledge of the products and their applications in order to address all relevant costs associated with a given project.
• Maintaining sensitivity to material costs, erection concerns, and fabrication procedures, relating to the in-place cost of the total structure.
• Following strict schedules as defined by the Estimating Supervisor, the sales team, and our builders.
• Assisting, proactively and as assigned, in the development of additional tools, standards, etc., which will help to increase individual and overall department productivity and accuracy.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree in construction discipline
• Experience in metal building or insulated metal panel industry
