Role Description

The Estimator role at Campbell Construction JC, Inc. is a full-time, on-site position based in Waterford, WI. The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and retail construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor work. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing project plans and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, requesting and reviewing vendor and subcontractor proposals, and developing detailed bid proposals and budgets. The Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, superintendents, and the leadership team to refine estimates, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support design-build and development projects. This role also involves maintaining historical cost data, updating estimating tools, and assisting with value engineering and client presentations as needed.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong construction estimating skills, including quantity take-offs, bid preparation, and cost analysis for commercial and industrial projects.
• Candidates should possess skills in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Candidates should possess proficiency with estimating and construction management software, as well as general computer skills (e.g., Excel, Word, PDF tools).
• Candidates should possess knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and trade practices relevant to commercial general contracting.
• Candidates should possess strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills to evaluate costs, risks, and project alternatives.
• Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project teams, vendors, and clients.
• Candidates should possess strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple bids and deadlines.
• Relevant experience in construction estimating or project management and a background in commercial contracting are highly beneficial; an associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
