Job summary

Lamsco West, Inc. is seeking an Estimator responsible for estimating and planning manufacturing operations based on cost estimates of materials and internal/external processes to meet customer requirements.

You will develop cost estimates for parts, review drawings to bid, obtain material pricing, and prepare comprehensive cost analyses. Strong math and CAD/CAM familiarity are beneficial; aerospace knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing estimating and/or planning preferred.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and documents.
• Strong mathematical and numerical analysis skills.
• Aerospace knowledge is a major plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develops cost estimates on individual parts and updates MRP system accordingly.
• Reviews customer drawings and documents and understands scope of work to bid.
• Obtains pricing for materials and bids from subcontractors/outside vendors.
• Prepares cost analyses summarizing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs.
• Communicates inaccuracies to supervisor and ensures data integrity.
• Ability to work overtime or adjust hours to meet production deadlines.
• Works overtime as deadlines require.
• Assists with process improvement and additional duties as assigned.

Job description

The Estimator will have overall responsibility for estimating and planning manufacturing operations based on cost estimates of materials needed and internal/external processes required to make parts in accordance with customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develops cost estimates on individual parts and updates MRP system accordingly.
• Reviews customer drawings and documents and understands scope of work to bid.
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to estimate costs.
• Review existing cost components and plan for improvement.
• Obtains pricing for materials.
• Obtains bids from subcontractors and outside process vendors.
• Prepares cost analysis in computer by summarizing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the manufacture of items.
• Informs immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.
• Must be able to get along well with others.
• Must be able to work a scheduled shift and meet company attendance requirements; must be flexible enough to work overtime or modify work hours on short notice if production deadlines require it.
• Good working knowledge and experience in CAD/CAM manufacturing is a plus.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing estimating and/or planning experience with manufacturing operations is preferred.
• Have good verbal and written English communication skills: ability to read, comprehend and work from written and verbal instructions.
• High school diploma or GED; prefer minimum two years technical school certificate.
• Must have good mathematical skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams experience.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and ability to interpret graphs and charts.
• Ability to be detail oriented and able to multi-task several functions.
• Ability to organize work to optimize efficiency.
• Aerospace knowledge is a major plus but not required.
