Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Estimator to prepare estimates for diverse projects and collaborate with the project team to ensure cost accuracy.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of estimating experience in commercial/industrial construction, with exposure to hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating. Local relocation is welcomed as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management related field or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 2 years experience in estimating commercial and/or industrial construction projects.
• Preference for relevant experience and large project exposure (ideally $20M+).

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates for potential projects using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
• Prepares estimate formats in general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
• Assists with preparation of bid proposals for submittal.
• Prepares outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Assists staff with special projects related to estimating.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Project size will be considered; ideally $20M or greater
