Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is seeking an Estimator for commercial plumbing and HVAC projects at our Sterling, VA headquarters. The role combines negotiated hard bids with design-build work and requires close collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing teams to deliver accurate cost projections.

You will develop reliable estimates aligned with client goals, assist with resource and financial planning, and support project teams from pre-bid through award.

Qualifications

• 3+ years estimating, engineering, construction, or PM experience.
• Bachelor's degree in CM, PM, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with MEP teams required.
• Strong organization and multitasking abilities.
• Technical background in building engineering and commercial projects.

We are looking for an Estimator to join our growing team. The Estimator will play a crucial role in developing successful estimates for commercial plumbing and HVAC projects. This position involves a combination of negotiated hard bids and design-build work, requiring close collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure accurate, thorough estimates. The ideal candidate will help ensure project success by delivering reliable cost projections that align with our clients' needs and project goals.

Requirements for this role include:

• 3+ years of estimating, engineering, construction, or project management experience in related markets.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent preferred.
• Experience working with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing professionals is required.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
• Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects concurrently.
• Technical background with an understanding of building engineering and commercial projects.
• Detailed knowledge of resource planning and financial planning.
• Excellent writing, organization, and communication skills.
• Positive attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• General knowledge of construction principles and practices.
• Team player with a passion for innovation and optimization.

This position is based at our HQ in Sterling, VA and is 100% onsite.
