Job summary

Gallo Mechanical, LLC is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our mechanical construction team in Raleigh, NC. You will oversee the estimating process for HVAC, plumbing, and piping projects, develop cost estimates, review drawings, and prepare bids aligned with client expectations.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with estimating software such as QuickPen.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience in construction (HVAC, plumbing, piping)
• Advanced proficiency in estimating software (e.g., QuickPen)
• Strong knowledge of mechanical construction practices, materials and cost factors
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for accurate cost estimates
• Strong project management skills with ability to handle multiple deadlines
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
• Effective communication with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and development of detailed cost estimates and high-level project scopes for mechanical construction projects
• Review drawings, specifications, and RFPs to understand bid scope
• Monitor the weekly bid calendar to ensure timely proposals
• Review material takeoffs for accuracy and completeness
• Compile takeoffs and equipment summaries to form the project estimate
• Research pricing for specialty materials and components
• Request bids from subcontractors and vendors and analyze quotes
• Draft and finalize proposals, bid forms, and cost breakdowns
• Assist in creating conceptual budgets from preliminary design documents
• Support sales with procurement strategies and decision-making
• Attend scope review meetings with clients and engineers
• Provide estimating data to PM team upon award

Join a leading company in the mechanical construction industry, known for our commitment to excellence and delivering high-quality projects. Gallo Mechanical is looking for an experienced an Estimator to become an integral part of our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the estimating process for mechanical construction projects, ensuring accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with client expectations. As an Estimator, you will manage the development of cost estimates, prepare bids, and provide other pre-construction services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the preparation and development of detailed cost estimates and high-level project scopes for mechanical construction projects
• Review project drawings, specifications, and request for proposals (RFPs) to fully understand the scope of work for bidding
• Monitor the weekly bid calendar to ensure timely proposal submissions
• Review material takeoffs for accuracy and completeness
• Compile takeoffs and equipment summaries to form the project estimate
• Research pricing for specialty materials and components
• Request bids from subcontractors and vendors
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure scope alignment
• Draft and finalize proposals, bid forms, and cost breakdowns
• Assist in creating conceptual budgets from preliminary design documents
• Support the sales team with procurement strategies and decision-making
• Attend project scope review meetings with clients and engineers
• Provide all estimating data to the project management team upon award of a project

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating within the construction industry, with a focus on mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping, etc.)
• Advanced proficiency in estimating software (e.g.,Quickpen or similar)
• Strong knowledge of mechanical construction practices, materials, and cost factors
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to produce accurate and detailed cost estimates
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Ability to read and interpret project documents, including drawings and specifications
• Effective communication skills to interact with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
