Structure Tone Philadelphia is seeking an Estimator to support interior projects, handling budgeting, bidding, leveling, and awarding across multiple projects. The role involves collaboration with project teams through all phases of construction and requires managing bids and coordination with clients and subs/vendors.

Ideal candidates will have a BS/BA in a related field and 5+ years of estimating experience, with strong Excel skills and proficiency in CMiC.

Qualifications

  • BS, BA, or relevant construction experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating, purchasing, and related duties.
  • Requires excellent computer skills (MS Office/Excel).

Job description

Structure Tone Philadelphia is seeking an Estimator for interior projects to support our office. The Estimator will be responsible for budgeting, bidding, leveling, and awarding a diverse set of projects; continuing to support the project team throughout all phases of construction. The position will require involvement in several projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Manage the estimating process on assigned projects totaling $50 - $100M per year.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs for various levels of budgeting, with a focus on commercial interior, Life Science and/or pharmaceutical projects.
  • Utilize Onscreen takeoff, CMiC and excel to calculate, record and track estimates.
  • Engage with a centralized cost estimating database ensuring updated pricing is provided inclusive of union wage increases, inflation, and other market adjustments.
  • Compile thorough scopes for subcontractor review during the level bid process.
  • Solicit subcontractor bids, ensuring each project receives 3-5 bids per trade and/or supplier group.
  • Complete subcontractor bid review and descope, ensuring conformance to project specifications, code requirements, material quality, project schedule, site logistics, insurance, and related items.
  • Identify items that have been omitted and ensure a complete estimate is provided to the client, enabling them to meet their financial objectives.
  • Complete subcontractor purchasing process, ensuring qualified subcontractors are utilized across various project types.
  • Manage project kickoff and closeout meetings to ensure a smooth transition of information across the estimating, engineering, accounting, and operations teams.
  • Maintain engagement from bid phase through project completion for RFIs, change management, ticket pricing and subcontract execution.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers and team members alike.
  • Attend client meetings, engage with and resolve issues regarding pricing and/or estimates, participate in value engineering exercises as needed, obtaining client approval and signoff.
  • Participate in team collaboration and development, enhancing the potential growth for both individual team members and the entire estimating department.
Qualifications:
  • BS, BA, or relevant construction experience preferred. Preferred areas of study include construction management, engineering, or architecture.
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating, purchasing, and related duties.
  • Requires excellent computer skills (MS Office/Excel).
