Job summary

Aegis is seeking a Tank Estimator to support its custom, engineered-to-order tank business. This technical, customer-facing role combines estimating with sales, requiring collaboration with customers to understand applications, review drawings, and develop quotes from the ground up.

You will manage multiple quotes, read drawings and specs, and work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate, competitive proposals.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of technical sales, estimating, or project-based manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of custom-fabricated products.
• Customer-facing experience with strong communication skills.
• Metal fabrication, welding, tanks, or pressure vessel experience is a plus.
• ASME, API, UL, or similar code knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage 5–10+ active quoting opportunities at a time.
• Review drawings, dimensions, materials, fabrication requirements, and customer specifications.
• Build technical estimates and quotes for custom-fabricated tanks.
• Work directly with customers to gather missing information and understand their applications.
• Follow up on existing and inbound opportunities and develop customer relationships.
• Work with internal engineering/manufacturing teams to determine project requirements.
• Occasionally visit customers throughout Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.

Aegis is partnered with a fourth-generation, family-owned manufacturer that has been in business for over 100 years and specializes in custom steel tanks and engineered industrial equipment. They are looking to add a Tank Estimator to support their custom, engineered-to-order tank business.
