Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and self-motivated Estimator with expertise in commercial electrical and roofing projects to join our team. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented professional who thrives on delivering accurate and competitive estimates under tight timelines. Once a project is contracted, you will transition seamlessly into project management responsibilities, overseeing the execution and ensuring successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Contract Stage: Estimation
  • Review RFQ documentation, drawings, and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates for commercial electrical and roofing projects.
  • Conduct detailed takeoffs and prepare competitive bid proposals.
  • Research materials, labor rates, subcontractor costs, and timelines to generate accurate estimates.
  • Utilize construction software tools (e.g., Procore, PlanSwift, Buildertrend) to manage bid development.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to clarify project scope and pricing discrepancies.
  • Meet strict RFQ deadlines while balancing multiple, simultaneous bids.

• Post-Contract Stage: Project Management
  • Transition from estimation to project management responsibilities once contracts are awarded.
  • Coordinate schedules, subcontractors, field teams, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Track and manage project budgets, addressing discrepancies to maintain profitability.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during project execution, ensuring satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve challenges in a proactive and professional manner.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of project performance, change orders, and schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience: Proven background in estimating within the electrical, roofing, and commercial construction industries.
• Project Management: Solid experience in managing projects after contract award, including coordinating teams and tracking budgets.
• Software Expertise: Proficiency in construction software (Procore, Buildertrend, PlanSwift, or equivalent).
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to foster relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently as a remote contractor and meet obligations without constant oversight.
• Construction Knowledge: Familiarity with roofing systems, electrical installations, industry standards, and codes.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with commercial renewable energy projects is a plus.
• Strong understanding of technical specifications, drawings, and contract negotiation.

Compensation

This is a 1099 contractor role with competitive, project-based payouts. Compensation is commensurate with experience. A successful Estimator has potential to make $140k+
