Job summary

Shambaugh & Son, L.P. is seeking a Project Manager / Estimator to work from our Fort Wayne, IN office. You will join our national Design-Build team to assemble designs, estimates, and construct food manufacturing facilities across the United States.

The role requires coordinating with clients, architects and engineers, reviewing subcontractor drawings, and preparing take-offs for budgets and GMPs. Travel to remote sites may be necessary.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Technology or Architecture.
  • 5+ years in construction project management and/or estimating.
  • Experience with food manufacturing or cold box (refrigerated) buildings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients, architects and engineers on designs.
  • Review materials and shop drawings to ensure design intent.
  • Prepare conceptual and detailed take-offs for budgets or GM price.
  • Assist with bid prequalification and bidding of architectural, civil and structural scopes.
  • Provide technical advice to the design-build team.
  • Support site staff in obtaining local planning/building approvals.

Job Summary

Shambaugh & Son, L.P. is looking for a Project Manager / Estimator to work out of our Fort Wayne, IN office. In this position, you will work with our nationally recognized Design-Build team assisting with the assembly of designs, estimates and ultimate construction of entire food manufacturing facilities constructed across the United States.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Working closely on construction plans and specifications with clients, outside architects, internal engineers and other professionals during conceptual and final design
  • Ensuring appropriate construction materials are incorporated into designs and conducting thorough review of subcontractor/vendor shop drawings to ensure design intent is met
  • Completing both conceptual and detailed take-offs of architectural, civil and structural elements of buildings to be incorporated into the overall project budget or Guaranteed Maximum Price
  • Assist management with the identification, prequalification and bidding of architectural, civil and structural scopes of work.
  • Providing technical advice to other members on the D/B team
  • Assisting site staff in obtaining local planning and/or building regulations approval
  • Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by subcontractors and/or our own trades, specifically regarding architectural, civil and structural elements of construction
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Technology or Architecture (essential)
  • 5+ years of work experience in building construction project management and/or estimating (essential)
  • Experience in the design and construction of food manufacturing and cold box (refrigerated) buildings (preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials and legal regulations
  • Ability to assemble bid set (RFP) drawing packages
  • Ability to liaise with professionals from other disciplines
  • Experience with subcontractor management
  • Good communications skills and ability to communicate with customers on remote sites (travel required)
  • Three-dimensional conceptual skills
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
