Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for a variety of commercial and industrial projects. You will work with the project team to ensure cost accuracy and support the estimating team with hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual tasks.

The role requires experience in estimating and knowledge of contract documents, with the ability to solicit bids and prepare bid proposals. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 2 years of estimating commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Experience with hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares estimates for potential projects, using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
  • Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
  • Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
  • Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
  • Prepares estimate formats in such areas as general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
  • Assists with the preparation of bid proposal for submittal.
  • Prepares outline schedules for proposed projects.
  • Assists staff members with various special projects related to estimating.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

  • Relevant experience is going to be highly preferred
  • Project size will be considered; ideally $20M or greater
  • Local or open to relocation to either area
