Job description

Position: Estimator – Pittsburgh, PA

Join Hatch as an Estimator based in Pittsburgh, PA. The role requires prior experience working on heavy industrial construction projects and adherence to the Project Lifecycle Process, Global and Regional Estimating Guidelines, and sound first‑principle estimating techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Understanding estimating scope of work, deliverables, schedule of execution, estimate structure, formats, reports, etc.
• Developing the estimate plan and initiating the estimate kick‑off meeting.
• Coordinating MTO deliverables with engineering.
• Delivering an accurate and comprehensive estimate in accordance with estimating procedures, standards, and practices and estimate classifications.
• Bottom‑up calculation of direct and indirect field costs, factorization or other methods appropriate to the estimate classification.
• Establishing project escalation and contingency requirements.
• Calculating cash expenditure and predicting escalation over the project duration.
• Attending estimate review meetings.
• Issuing the Basis of Estimate and preparing client estimate presentations.
• Monitoring and upgrading the estimating database.
• Preparing and inputting to Gate Release Meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5–10 years of experience in an estimating role, ideally on small or medium multi‑discipline projects in an EPCM environment across various classes of estimate.
• Strong MS Office skills and experience with tools and estimating systems.
• Site experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of EPC/LSTK estimating techniques.
• Collaboration on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions.
