C.S. Beatty Construction, LLC in Birmingham, AL is seeking an Estimating Technician with 3+ years of experience to support our estimating team.

The role focuses on accurate quantity takeoffs and CAD work for earthwork, utilities, paving, and site development bids. Proficiency in AGTEK, Bluebeam Revu, and AutoCAD/Civil 3D is essential, with the ability to translate plans into reliable quantities and models for bidders and crews.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating, quantity takeoff, or CAD support for heavy civil, sitework, or utility construction.
• Proficiency in AGTEK for surface modeling, earthwork takeoff, and volume calculations.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu for digital plan review and quantity takeoff.
• Working proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D with engineer-provided design files.
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans, profiles, cross-sections, and specs.
• Experience soliciting quotes and negotiating pricing with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in quantities; proficient in Excel; able to manage multiple bids.

Responsabilités

• Perform quantity takeoffs in Bluebeam Revu for storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water lines, paving, curb and gutter, erosion control, and other site items.
• Build earthwork models in AGTEK from CAD files and PDFs: surfaces, volumes, topsoil stripping, undercut, and mass-haul.
• Clean up, prepare, and manipulate engineer CAD files in AutoCAD/Civil 3D for takeoff and modeling.
• Create exhibits, site logistics plans, haul routes, and phasing drawings to support bids and proposals.
• Organize bid documents, plans, specifications, and addenda; track plan revisions and update quantities.
• Flag scope gaps, plan conflicts, and missing information to estimators; draft RFIs during bid period.
• Solicit, track, and level subcontractor quotes; build scope sheets; negotiate pricing, scope, and terms.
• Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings; hand off quantity backup, AGTEK models, and CAD files to operations.

Location- In office – Birmingham, AL

C.S. Beatty Construction is a heavy civil contractor based in Birmingham, Alabama. We are seeking an

Estimating Technician with 3+ years of experience to support our estimating team with accurate

quantity takeoffs and CAD work for earthwork, utilities, paving, and site development bids. The ideal

candidate is proficient in AGTEK, Bluebeam Revu, and AutoCAD / Civil 3D, and can turn plans and design

files into reliable quantities and models that estimators and field crews can build from.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs in Bluebeam Revu for storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water lines, paving,

curb and gutter, erosion control, and other site items.

• Build earthwork models in AGTEK from CAD files and PDFs: existing and proposed surfaces, cut/fill

volumes, topsoil stripping, undercut, and mass-haul quantities.

• Clean up, prepare, and manipulate engineer CAD files in AutoCAD / Civil 3D for takeoff and modeling

(layers, linework, surfaces, alignments, and profiles).

• Create exhibits, site logistics plans, haul routes, and phasing drawings to support bids and proposals.
• Organize bid documents, plans, specifications, and addenda; track plan revisions and update

quantities accordingly.

• Flag scope gaps, plan conflicts, and missing information to estimators; help draft RFIs during the bid

period.

• Solicit, track, and level subcontractor and supplier quotes; build scope sheets and negotiate pricing,

scope, and terms with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive, complete numbers for

bid day.

• Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as needed to verify existing conditions.
• Hand off quantity backup, AGTEK models, and CAD files to operations on awarded projects.
• Adaptable to new AI technology and streamlining workflows.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in estimating, quantity takeoff, or CAD support for heavy civil, sitework, or

utility construction.

• Proficiency in AGTEK (Earthwork 4D / Gradework) for surface modeling, earthwork takeoff, and

volume calculations.

• Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu for digital plan review, markups, and quantity takeoff.
• Working proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, including working with engineer-provided design

files.

• Ability to read and interpret civil plans, profiles, cross-sections, and specifications.
• Experience soliciting quotes and negotiating pricing and scope with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in quantities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology,

Drafting/CAD, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).

• Experience with data center, industrial, utility substation, or commercial site development.
• Interest in growing into an Estimator role.
• Full-time, in-office position at our Birmingham, AL office; occasional site visits or pre-bid meetings

may be required.

• Occasional site visits may involve walking uneven terrain in varying weather conditions.
• Occasional extended hours during peak bid periods.
