Job summary

The Haskell Company is seeking an experienced Estimating Lead to manage Estimating personnel and develop accurate cost estimates for construction projects in Florida. You will contribute to preconstruction standards, risk analysis, and bid strategies.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in Engineering/Construction Management (or equivalent) with about 6 years of estimating experience, plus proficiency in estimating software and strong leadership skills. Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Estimating personnel and processes.
  • Develop preconstruction standards and tools.
  • Create accurate, detailed cost estimates and review peers' work.

  • Lead pricing efforts and risk analysis.
  • Support proposal win strategy and client presentations.
  • Coordinate with designers, clients and operations teams.
  • Monitor market trends and bid competitiveness.

In this role, you will manage Estimating personnel. You will verify and develop accurate, detailed construction cost estimates. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and adherence of preconstruction standards and processes.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manages Estimating personnel.
  • Develops and ensures utilization of the Preconstruction processes, standards and tools.
  • Develops accurate, detailed cost estimates and reviews other Team Member's estimates.
  • Develops associated scope of work clarifications and requests for information (RFI's).
  • Develops market bid leveling analysis documents.
  • Reviews and recommends responsible bidders from bid leveling analysis documents.
  • Develops project construction budgets.
  • Develops, maintains Preconstruction software and historical costs.
  • Acts as the Pricing Lead when required.
  • Identifies risk items and works on the Risk Register Development.
  • Participates in proposal win strategy and presentation.
  • Contributes to cost savings exercises.
  • Works on the development of bid packages.
  • Contributes to coordination and participation in Preconstruction-Operations Turnover Meetings.
  • Works on Subcontractor and Vendor solicitations and relationships.
  • Works on project procurement and buyout.
  • Collaborates with Preconstruction Leadership, designers and clients, and the project operations team.
  • Follows project construction costs and market trends.
  • Travel as required.
Education & Years of Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent and 6 years of estimating experience preferred.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
  • Demonstrate deep structural construction knowledge - Structural steel systems, reinforced structural concrete systems, masonry systems, structural precast systems, miscellaneous metals.
  • Experience developing accurate structural cost estimates and demonstrate experience with peer reviewing team members estimates.
  • Demonstrate leadership and communication skills through the ability to lead, mentor, and develop structural estimators.
  • Estimating experience.
  • Solid organizational, time management and communication skills.
  • Design-Build and CMAR project delivery method experience.
  • Exceptional computer skills, including the utilization of estimating software systems.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, team members may be required to visit alternate locations and therefore must have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to do so. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The team member is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.

The base salary range for this position is $135,000-$195,000. The actual salary will be determined based on the candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
