The Estimating Engineer / Raw Materials Buyer will be responsible for reviewing technical documents, including prints, models, and specifications to support both the estimating team and the buying team.
Essential Job Functions:
- Help determine if RFQ designs are feasible within our company’s capabilities and product scope, while gathering and analyzing data to estimate the time, cost, materials, and labor required for manufacturing the components.
- Assist with running MRP on an as determined interval and assure that materials, details or hardware required to support the manufacturing and delivery schedule are secured.
- Use provided estimating tools to provide accurate estimates for raw material costs, and manufacturing times ensuring all customer requirements are met.
- Communicate regularly with the supply chain to obtain the optimum volume, pricing, & delivery to support current manufacturing needs or potential work being quoted to our customers.
- Generate purchase orders for MRO items and subcontracting during the time the other buyers are out of the office or the need for support arises.
- Assure all material, details, and hardware quoted and purchased meet the necessary customer requirements for use in the final products and are or will be supplied with the correct certifications and approvals.
- Communicate with customers and/or the Sales Department to provide the status of RFQ’s, and orders when necessary.
- Work with quality, planning and engineering to ensure best practices for purchasing and quoting of customer jobs.
- Work with the estimating team to establish a strong foundation to support the proposals provided to our customers and the continued growth and efficiency of our company.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a field such as Engineering, Manufacturing or similar is strongly preferred and at least 5 years of business experience related to material procurement, estimating production planning or engineering preferred.
- Experience in an Aerospace manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing including fabrication, welding, and CNC machining is a plus.
- Must have a strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and collaborate with different departments.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks at once while maintaining organization within a needed timeframe.
