Job summary

HW Staffing Solutions is seeking an Estimating Engineer to join a growing manufacturing organization in Farmington, CT. This role will evaluate RFQs, develop accurate manufacturing cost estimates, determine production routing and lead times, and provide technical support throughout quoting and contract review.

The ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, sales, purchasing, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or related field.
• Experience with manufacturing cost estimating and quotation development.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD files.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and analytical skills.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with sales, engineering, and operations.

HW Staffing Solutions Estimating Engineer Direct Hire Opportunity Location: Farmington, CT Department: Sales / Technical Engineering Compensation: $80,000 - $110,000 annually (based on experience)

Position Summary

HW Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Estimating Engineer to join a growing manufacturing organization in Farmington, CT. This role is responsible for evaluating customer requests for quotation (RFQs), developing accurate manufacturing cost estimates, determining production routing and lead times, and providing technical support throughout the quoting and contract review process. The ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, sales, purchasing, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimating & Quoting

• Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD files to determine manufacturing feasibility.
• Develop accurate cost estimates for products, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.
• Establish manufacturing routing, lot sizes, production estimates, and lead times.
• Request and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing.
• Develop complete quotation packages and supporting documentation.
• Identify and document any estimate assumptions, exceptions, or special requirements.

Engineering & Technical Analysis

• Evaluate manufacturing methods and recommend the most cost-effective production processes.
• Research new materials, coatings, and manufacturing technologies as required.
• Assess tooling, fixtures, and equipment requirements necessary to produce customer products.
• Ensure manufacturing capabilities align with customer specifications and requirements.
• Review production routing and quote information during contract review processes.

Customer & Cross-Functional Support

• Collaborate with sales, engineering, purchasing, operations, and production teams to ensure quote accuracy.
• Provide technical support and guidance throughout the quoting and order processing cycle.
• Assist customers with technical inquiries and project requirements.
• Participate in customer meetings, presentations, and industry trade shows as needed.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and manufacturing efficiency projects.

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, and housekeeping requirements.
• Train or assist other personnel as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Maintain reliable attendance and professional communication standards.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent manufacturing and estimating experience will be considered.
• Experience with manufacturing cost estimating and quotation development.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and vendor management.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD files.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience

• Metal stamping, springs, precision manufacturing, or related industrial experience.
• Knowledge of production routing, capacity planning, and lead-time analysis.
• Experience working with ERP systems and estimating software.
• Customer-facing technical sales or application engineering experience is a plus.
