ArchKey Solutions LLC in Missouri seeks an Estimating Director hybrid out of St. Louis, MO. You will oversee the estimating team on large-scale projects and ensure accurate, timely communications with clients and project teams.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years of electrical construction estimating experience, 5+ years in leadership, and strong client relations. You will implement lean processes, mentor staff, and coordinate with project teams.

Qualifications

About the Position

Responsible for providing oversight and management of the estimating team for all projects. This position manages the collaboration of many estimators on large-scale projects and ensures thorough, exemplary customer communications and project results are achieved, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Senior Electrical Construction Estimating Leader - 12+ years of electrical construction experience, with strong expertise in estimating, preconstruction, design/build, electrical codes, and large-scale commercial projects.
• Proven People Manager & Team Builder - 5-7+ years in a senior estimating role and at least 5 years of direct people management, with a strong track record of coaching, mentoring, developing, and motivating estimating teams.
• Strong Business & Client-Facing Leader - Experienced in value analysis, project risk management, subcontractor/vendor negotiations, business development, client relationships, and communicating effectively with senior leadership and project teams.
• Highly Technical, Strategic & Process-Oriented - Strong conceptual estimating and electrical systems knowledge, comfortable reading plans/specifications/contracts, experienced with estimating software such as Accubid, and knowledgeable in LEAN/continuous-improvement methodologies and estimating process development.

Day in The Life

• Directs and supervises activities of each project for quality and accuracy of work. This includes helping establish goals and communicating expected standards of performance and quality for others' work.
• Conducts high-quality business development activities regularly. Maintains confidentiality of all client pricing and intellectual property.
• Manages, plans, reviews, and coordinates all assigned estimates to maximize time and efficiency while delivering on promises to customers and co-workers.
• Plans and manages all project take-offs to optimize efficiency of labor.
• Works with project teams and others to determine general expenses, labor rates, scope and other elements associated with the project.
• Provides a detailed and comprehensive value analysis to the project team.
• Manage project workloads/specializations and provide problem resolution advice for estimators. Performs regular project risk assessment and mitigation.
• Secures and reviews quotes from subcontractors and vendors.
• Ensures estimates and RFP proposals are written appropriately and fulfilled to the customer's and/or the Company's conditions for timing and quality satisfaction.
• Provides incremental cost analysis and scope updates for clients on project work.
• Provides regular and high-quality hiring, communications, mentoring, coaching, problem-solving and training for staff and other co-workers at all levels as needed.
• Advises and coaches employees and provides performance feedback regularly.
• Creates and manages an annual financial budget and maintains some level of responsibility for Companywide financials.
• Stays informed of new and changing Company procedures, policies, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices. Establish trains and maintain estimating policies and processes.
• Consistently make decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
• Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
• Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high-quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in engineering, construction management, building construction, architecture, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 12+ years of electrical construction experience in estimating, common code requirements, and design/build estimating and preconstruction with a concentration in large commercial construction projects.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a senior level estimating role + 5 years of experience directly managing people. Previous experience with field installation helpful.
• Experience with computerized software and estimating systems. Familiarity with Accubid preferred. Strong technical understanding of electrical systems.
• Extensive experience with value analysis in all market segments and in-depth trade knowledge. Strong conceptual estimating skills, and experience in reviewing estimates for accuracy and completeness. Strong business analysis and mathematical skills.
• Skills to read and interpret financial documents.
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, costs, systems, market conditions/trends, trade practices and regional differences.
• Must have extensive knowledge of the electrical code. Skills to read, interpret and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Superior listening, presentation, negotiation, conflict management and persuasion skills, and the ability to influence employees at all levels, including senior-level management.
• Conceptual ability to work with minimum amount of information and quickly develop an understanding of the owner/architect requirements. Exceptional business development, relationship building and client communication skills.
• Exceptional ability to coach, mentor, motivate and develop front line and senior level management, providing support to build high performing, highly engaged teams and providing organizational and leadership guidance through periods of significant transition. Strong collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with and facilitate diverse work teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas and concepts and the ability to build strong working teams, cultures, and relationships at all levels and cross functionally.
• Extensive experience with project management leadership and practices, and a thorough understanding of the project life cycle.
• In-depth training and experience with LEAN methodologies and/or similar applications. Strong process orientation.
