Shumaker is seeking an Wealth Strategies Paralegal to support attorneys in private client services, trusts, and estate planning. The role focuses on drafting and maintaining wills, trusts, and advance directives, with timely client updates and meticulous document handling.

The candidate should have at least two years of paralegal experience, including Florida estate planning work, and preferably familiarity with Lawgic software. This full-time, on-site position is based in Sarasota, FL.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an associate’s degree is required.
  • At least two years of paralegal experience required.
  • One year of experience working with Florida estate planning documents required; Lawgic experience is a plus.
  • Project and case management skills including a strong aptitude for managing and prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Wealth Strategies Paralegal will work with our attorneys specializing in private client services, trusts and estate planning. Primary responsibilities will consist of preparing and maintaining estate planning documents such as wills, trusts and advanced directives, and providing timely updates to clients. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of paralegal experience, with at least one year working on Florida estate planning matters. Experience using Lawgic estate planning software is a plus.

Where You'll Work

The Wealth Strategies Paralegal is an hourly non-exempt position and will work full-time at our Sarasota, Florida office.

What You’ll Do
  • Draft legal documents such as wills, trusts and advanced directives using Lawgic estate planning software.
  • Assist attorneys in organizing and managing case files; including maintaining document databases and electronic records.
  • Conduct legal research on estate planning and estate and gift tax topics.
  • Communicate with clients, beneficiaries and financial institutions to provide timely updates and provide documentation as needed.
  • Attend all client signings with attorneys.
