Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Paraprofessional - ESS to support teachers in a special education environment. You will assist with instructional activities, classroom management, and student care under the supervision of a certified teacher and principal.

Qualifications include a HS diploma or higher with some college coursework or an ETS Parapro pass; duties cover materials prep, records, and supervision across the school day. Training provided for medical tasks and safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or high school equivalent. Completed two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education (48 college credit hours with required courses); or an Associate's degree (or higher); or a minimum score of 450 on the ETS Parapro Exam.

Responsibilities

  • Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment.
  • Assists teachers in maintaining administrative records and preparing required reports.
  • Provides orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  • Assists students with physical disabilities including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning.
  • Assists students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene; including catheterization, after proper training is provided.
  • Helps manage the behavior of students, including intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive behavior as needed.
  • Assumes responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's needs.
  • Works with students to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises.
  • Helps supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground duties.
  • Keeps teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
  • Participates in staff development and meetings as assigned.
  • Maintains professional confidentiality and adheres to safety policies.

Summary:

Assists teachers to provide for the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in a special education setting. Assists in the implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. Work under general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of the certified teacher.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment.
  • Assists teachers in maintaining administrative records and preparing required reports.
  • Provides orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

  • Assists students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene; including catheterization, after proper training is provided

  • Assumes responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative need.
  • Works with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
  • Helps supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
  • Keeps teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
  • Participates in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
  • Maintains a professional level of confidentiality concerning personnel and students.
