Job summary

Moss Utilities is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery for excavation and underground utility installation in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. The role emphasizes safety, adherence to grade markings, and following project specifications.

You will work with a crew to support project objectives, perform equipment inspections, and assist with trenching, shoring, and material handling.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to listen to, understand, and follow directions accurately.
  • Flexibility to adapt as assignments or priorities change.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities and team members.
  • Basic arithmetic skills for counting, measuring, and inventory tasks.
  • Capable of remaining efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and during delays.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to analyze issues and solve problems.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

Responsibilities

  • Operate or tend machinery equipped with buckets to excavate and load materials.
  • Operate construction equipment such as power shovels, trenchers, and bulldozers.
  • Follow safety policies and report issues to supervision.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections before and after operation.
  • Assist with manual labor tasks as directed by crew leadership.
  • Capably manage trench work while maintaining OSHA and site standards.
