Job summary

Education First in Thornwood, NY seeks an ESL Teacher for Summer 2027. Plan, deliver and assess engaging English language lessons for young learners, following EF methodology, with a focus on student satisfaction and safety. You’ll manage classes, prepare materials, track attendance, and participate in staff meetings.

Requires TEFL, a university degree, fluent English, and eligibility to work in the U.S. Housing provided on a limited basis.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent experience.
• TEFL certificate or equivalent.
• Complete fluency in English.
• Experience in the field of education.
• Attend training before your contract commences.
• Have the right to live and work in the country of employment.

Responsibilities

• Teaching classes every weekday following the EF methodology.
• Lesson planning and preparation before each class.
• Classroom management.
• Facilitating testing during the course, including marking tests.
• Monitoring daily attendance and keeping up-to‑date records and paperwork.
• Attending all teacher meetings.
• Monitoring student progress and personal goals to help them in their language improvement.
• Ensuring the EF behavior code is always followed by students and informing management immediately if there are any issues or problems.
• Responding to problems and emergency situations should they arise.

Role: ESL Teacher - Summer 2027

Location: Thornwood, NY

Compensation: $20.00 - $24.00 / hour

(housing provided as a taxable fringe benefit on a limited basis)

The Role:
