Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid Florida teaching certificate covering appropriate area of responsibility.
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred).
• Experience managing business/department functions and staff (preferred).
• Relevant work experience or education may substitute minimum qualifications.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and related privacy and records regulations.
• Ability to work under deadlines with high workload and multitasking requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan individually or cooperatively a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, diverse backgrounds, and abilities of students.
• Assist in establishing department or grade-level curriculum objectives and the development of the plan for implementation and evaluation of the objectives.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
• Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons and projects.
• Employ instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
• Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
• Diagnose learning strengths and weaknesses and consult District specialists as deemed appropriate.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
• Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct; establish classroom rules and maintain order fairly.
• Plan and supervise assignments for support personnel and volunteers; evaluate effectiveness.
• Use technology in teaching and maintain records as required by law and policy.
• Perform Medicaid administrative claims activities as directed per SDAC Guide.
• Adhere to Code of Ethics and meet district requirements.
• Support school improvement initiatives and participate in activities and programs.
• Recognize indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate action.
